Who’s to blame for your insane electric bill?

Ok, it’s time to get real, friends. Because that’s what we do here at Common Sense Club.

We were all treated to a shock when we got our INSANELY high electric bills out of the blue in June. It was already bad. We were already struggling under the weight of crushing income taxes, chart-topping property taxes, and overall costs of living. And then, this. New Jersey electricity costs are now the 12th highest nationally.

We got mad — and rightly so.

Immediately, Murphy and his Trenton (and DC) co-conspirators (and that includes you, Ms. Sherrill…) got to work spinning the blame away from themselves and onto literally anyone and anything else. Because when you and your party are responsible for making New Jerseyans pay hundreds of dollars more a month to cool their homes, you probably aren’t going to do well on Election Day. If it weren’t for that reality, we can guarantee they wouldn’t give a crap.

But let’s back up a little.

Governor Murphy has bowed the knee to the Green New Deal agenda from day one. He’s on a mad dash to destroy New Jersey faster than Gavin Newsom is destroying California.

He signed the “Clean Energy Act” in May 2018 that led to the shutting down of our state’s coal and nuclear power plants (the last one shut down in December 2022) with no viable and immediately ready “clean” alternative to offset this lost source of energy. Then in 2020, he signed his moronic Executive Orders 100 and 315 – his “Energy Master Plan” – to force the state into 100% clean energy by 2035. With no viable alternatives and the PJM struggling to keep pace with integrating new energy sources (quite understandably given that Murphy’s plan was all about an ideological win for his donors and not at all about the realities of powering the state), prices spiked. And that amazing offshore wind energy we keep hearing about that is supposed to solve all these problems? Yeah, getting that infrastructure up and running keeps being pushed out – two plus years at this point.

But who do we hear as the favorite target of blame for Murphy, Mikie, and company? These sweeping, rapid and ill advised policy changes that shut down an entire sector of energy production? Nope. The blame lies with PJM. They’re “too slow to connect chiefly renewable projects to [their] grid” (Source: New Jersey Monitor). Oh, yeah, and AI data centers.

What about the $100 energy credit? That’s partly funded by fines paid by energy suppliers that don’t meet the green energy goals that caused this problem to begin with.

The cycle of Leftist Lunatics creating problems that they “save us” from using dollars they steal from businesses and taxpayers through heavy handed mandates continues.

And the temporary credits? Assemblyman Alex Sauickie pointed out these feel more like a political bribe than real relief. He was quoted in NJBiz.com — “Electric bills have tripled because of state Democrats’ failed leadership and policies, and now they want to buy votes with $160 of temporary credits. What’s worse is while ratepayers would normally pay less in the winter for their electricity, bills will be shockingly high because customers will be forced to pay it all back. This isn’t a rebate, it’s a bribe.”

You’re not wrong, sir.

Mikie wants to distance herself from Murphy’s legacy on this, but facts are stubborn things. And here, we call out the BS. Sherrill said as recently as February that she supports Murphy’s 2035 push, saying “I love those goals!” (as reported by Politico, of all places). Plus, she frequently doubles down on her support for offshore wind. She’s endorsed by the one and only Sierra Club – proud promoters of the Green New Deal – and the League of Conservation Voters who are dying on the hill of offshore wind against all odds, our pocket books be damned.

If you just want some straight answers and a reasonable electricity bill, you’re not alone. That’s most of us. That’s why we’re the Common Sense Majority

They think we’re stupid. But they’re soon going to find out they were the stupid ones.
